When Honda had the new showroom designed for their site at Romford they wanted to make sure that the building would incorporate some of the best sustainable and economically advantageous building practices. The ground works package for this project was of a particularly complex design which pulled together many aspects of the requirements for a green building and a market leading car showroom and service facility.

We needed to engineer some new ways of working to install the many different facets of the design. As an example, the pits and foundation cassettes for the below ground hydraulic car lifting ramps were installed very early in the programme alongside the foundations and to the very highest levels of accuracy to allow the floor tile installation around them to be completed without the need for cuts or in-fills.

We were also instrumental in the installation of the state of the art rain water harvesting and geothermal heat pump systems. The drainage system in exterior areas utilized the very latest products in underground drainage and we proved our ability to embrace new methods of working.
